how ewgeco works: top

Ewgeco displays your electricity, water and gas consumption using an easy to understand, engaging and intuitive ‘traffic light’ style display that rises and falls in real-time.

Ewgeco self calibrates to the size of your property, number of users, and number of appliances in use, therefore the green, amber and red bars display if the amount of energy being used at any given time is normal, moderate or high.

Ewgeco is fully wireless and portable, therefore you can move it around your property to immediately identify what is using the energy, and actively and persistently adjust your usage behaviour accordingly.

By showing you the actual cost, kilowatts, litres/hour, CO2 emissions, and unique Ewgeco units, it lets you see and understand your energy consumption patterns, helping you to actively reduce your usage, costs, wastage, and carbon emissions that damage the environment.

Ewgeco collects consumption data directly from your electricity, water and gas meters via wireless transmitters. It can also monitor electricity usage via a current clamp, which does not involve directly connecting to the meter. Depending on the locations of your meters, one transmitter can transmit three different channels of data.

Ewgeco is supported by the “My Ewgeco” web portal where you can analyse your energy consumption and cost over time, identify peak loads and anomalies, and compare your usage against other users’. The data can be interpreted and used by you or your business as part of an energy management regime.

Ewgeco can store your energy usage data on the device for up to 13 months. Your data can be transferred directly to a PC and uploaded to the “My Ewgeco” web portal. “My Ewgeco” is an engaging, information rich web site that allows you to build up historical data on your energy consumption, and provides a variety of analysis tools to allow you to more effectively understand and manage your consumption.

For example, looking at your monthly electricity usage graph. If you identified that January was a particularly expensive month, you could click on the bar for January to identify which particular day was expensive.

You could then click on that day to see when consumption was at its peak.

You can identify your peak loading, consumption anomalies and seasonal trends over a particular time period, and view the amount of CO2 generated as a result of your energy consumption.

The website can also quickly inform you of potential issues that you may not otherwise have been aware of. The following graph clearly shows that this building had a water leak as the water consumption was high all day and night. Similarly, a gas leak can be identified.
